CRUISING...WHEN IS IT TOO EXPENSIVE?

Been looking at price increases on just about every line for just about everything..drinks, water, internet, tours, certain meals/packages...and the cruises themselves.....now we all know why....it all happened on "our watch"...no need to rehash the reasons...but is there a point at which you would cut back, or quit? or is it just folks like me, with lots of cruises under their belts, who resent "paying more for less"? (less food, less entertainment, less "stewardship", etc etc)

I believe the cruise lines are still riding the post-COVID return to sailing wave. Once people are 100% back to normal life, and they're not exceeding booking goals as soon as their schedules are announced, I think it will get better.

$389 ncl epic orlando to rome april 2024 inside cabin one person. port charges $129. now the return in november is $689 pp plus port fees/gratuities and double occupancy required or $1378. it may be reduced to single fare inside as we get closer but...this is ncl's worst ship at double priced and double requirement. im sailing to japan in sept with a friend now cause its too expensive by myself. you have to adjust in these times or quit all together. im still wanting to cruise 70 days a year if its reasonable. all the cruise prices have risen and they are using the airlines pagebook... raise the price and they have no other choices. lets hope this cycle ends soon. just get me on the ship, cause thats where the fun begins and the world comes to us.

money, guns, lawyers....in whatever order works!!!! yukyuk!

Having just returned from 3 days at Disney, meeting my family 3/4 of the way through their trip, I can fully provide testament to this statement.

My threshold is much lower than my wifes. Crying

For me, there’s definitely a tipping point where the cost outweighs the enjoyment, and that’s when I’d start considering other vacation options or cutting back.

That was my experience as well. Our October flights (as scheduled) are not only cheaper but also direct flights. Neither were avaiable for January.Sad

Sure seems that way.

What really put me over the edge, was a Balcony, Marina view room at the Ft Lauderdale Hilton Marina was cheaper than any room at the Comfort Inn Ft Lauderdale Airport and Cruise Port.

While both are nice hotels, the Hilton is FAR superior, not only in location, but quality...

Trying to recoup their January loss, eh?

I got a Steal back in January for our December Cruise - Less than $250/Person, round trip BUF to FLL.

When I went to book for our March 2025 cruise yesterday, I damned near fell out of my chair. Crying

Just booked our flights for our January cruises. Can’t say I was happy with the cost, but if we want to cruise it’s required. Maybe time to book more out of CA orTX since they tend to be a little less expensive for flying.Surprised
