Beautiful Ship with Bad Dining Service

Ship: MSC Splendida
Sail Date: Oct 21, 2012

The Ship is beautiful, modern and clean. The cabin steward was great and the check in went wonderful. The real problem is the dining services both the dining room and casual self serve dining area. The dining room had very bad service getting anyone to wait on you, I never got the food I ordered, or they simply skipped a course and kept saying I forgot, The servers were rude and unprofessional. The dining room had little or no bar service and forget getting a clean table during peak hours, unless you want to clean the table yourself to get a place to eat.

A Good Cruise for the Money!

Ship: MSC Splendida
Sail Date: Jan 07, 2012

This is a fantastic and beautiful ship. The crew (with a few exceptions) is friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the non-smoking areas (esp. the smoke-free balconies!), the jazz music, and the ports of call. For the price, the Splendida can't be beat!

Whiny passengers stay home

Ship: MSC Splendida
Sail Date: Nov 24, 2010

Let me first preface this paragraph by saying that I was born, raised, and live in the United States. I love it and I think it's the greatest country on Earth. Now, then. If you are an American who has somehow become accustomed to never waiting in a line, never paying for a drink, and not having to follow simple, clear instructions -- or, indeed, if you are put off by listening to announcements in foreign languages or experiencing people whose cultures are unfamiliar to you -- then please, by all means, do NOT take this cruise. In fact, please consider not traveling internationally at all. There are plenty of places you can go in our own country where people are accustomed to dealing with your me-first attitude. Overseas, we do not need our reputation further sullied by your need to be spoiled. I was appalled by the number of Americans I saw elbowing others and nearly diving over tables to get a better spot in line; or who yelled "ENGLISH!" to a wonderful, bi-lingual tour guid...

Would do it again!

Ship: MSC Splendida
Sail Date: Jul 31, 2009

We were on the MSC Splendida this past week. We loved the ship and the state rooms were wonderful. Food was average but we still managed to eat a lot of it. I tried to eat healthy and ordered the fish 3 times....but it let me down every time! Fishy fish! The pasta dishes were great as expected. Steak dinner was very good and the prawns...wow! Salads were just average. This is a Italian Cruise line so expect things to be very European. No coffee after breakfast. You will have to order it in one of the many lounges or pool side. They do have tea time several of the days from 3:45- 4:45. We would reccommend that you set up your own tours at the stops. Either do the double decker buses or get a taxi. The beach excurisions in Sicily and Tunisa were bad. LOVED Malta! We took the bus tour that was right there at the dock. It took 3 hours to go all around the island. Well worth it! Most of the shows were very good, talented entertainment. Singers were fair. Have Fun!

Cruising Like a Rock Star on the Mediterranian

Ship: MSC Splendida
Sail Date: Mar 18, 2013

If you are looking for a fabulous vacation traveling in splendor with every amenity - for a steal- try MSC and book through Cheap Cruises. My husband & I are boaters, but living in New England, like to take a winter cruise and usually go on Cunard Lines, although we have also traveled on Princess and others. This year, on the recommendation of a friend, we booked MSC Splendida for the Western Med. Being a bargain-hunter (aren't we all?) I went to Cheap Cruises. Now, you know cruising is great but MSC? OMG! The ship is beyond immaculate, has an incredibly beautiful decor (i.e. Swarovsky crystal stairs) (!), delicious food (i.e 7-course dinners with lobster and filet mignon), and amazing staff. Our "mini-suite" and balcony (from which we enjoyed sun, stars, and the Mediterranean) were huge. There are several pools, one of which is in a garden dome, which retracts when the weather is fine. The atmosphere is cosmopolitan with passengers from all over Europe and Australia. Ther...

Great Ship and Very Satisified

Ship: MSC Splendida
Sail Date: Jun 01, 2010

I have been reading some other not so good reviews here and in my opinion my wife, son and I were all very happy with just about everything. We took this cruise in June 2010. The breakfast buffets were very nice, so much to chose from. Of course they had the same thing everyday, but you can choose something different everyday. All the food was hot. Lunch buffet was very good too. Our balcony room (12029) was very plush. Wife said sheets were the best she has felt, bed smelled clean. Bathroom was very nice and clean, room service was very good. Water did cost you extra, about $2.00 for a large bottle. We would buy water while at port and bring it back with us. They gave you 1 bottle of water included with every dinner. The entertainment at the theater was very very good and it got over at 10:30, not too late so we can get rest for the next day. All the ports were really great. I think some of these other reviews are too picky. We are planning to go again.
