Comments regarding our vacation with Royal Caribbean "Explorer of the Seas" (5 day cruise to Bermuda, May 11-16, 2013) We have previously cruised with Princess Cruises and Celebrity Cruises and were very happy with our cruise experience on both of these. We decided to try another cruise line, for the experience and are very, very disappointed with our recent cruise vacation with Royal Caribbean. We may have been naive to think that all cruise lines had the same (or close to the same) standards, but it is now very evident that this is not the case. Here’s the list of mediocre standards encountered on our cruise: Smoking Being non-smokers, we had a particularly difficult time with this. While we understand that smokers are customers too, it seems to us that there are now a lot more non-smokers than smokers and that should be reflected in the amount of areas available to each group. I have been on four cruises all with Royal Caribbean. Since this is my first time with free style dinning. I didn't enjoy it. The food was good. The entertainment just OK. I liked the way Royal Caribbean ships are laid out, maybe because they are a lot bigger. When making arrangements with vacation outlets, they do not assign room numbers. I think all room numbers should be assigned before you board your ship. They link in with you for the reservation so why not the room assignments. In this day and age that should not be a problem. We did not get our luggage until 7:30pm on the day we boarded, because of no room number listed on our luggage tags.. We went to guest relations twice for no hot water.

As usual, everything was fine on the cruise except for the evening entertainment. We sailed with NCL several times before and the shows were always super but this cruise had the same "comedian" for three nights out of seven. We found this a bit much. The final nights show, "Bollywood" was so loud it made us uncomfortable just to sit there. I have recommended this cruise to friends and I will again, hoping they will spend a little more thought on the theater entertainment.

Had a wonderful time aboard the Celebrity Summit. Great staff and the food was fantastic. Didn't gain a pound which was great. Portions were perfect and we did walk a lot. Met some lovely people . Maybe they could have popcorn in the movie room! Our leaving the ship when we got back to port was a bit of a mess but did get thru it and able to leave early enought to drive a distance to home in VA. Entertainment was fabulous!!!!

Very rocky beginning due to being seasick for the first day. Food was generally very good and available at the many venues around the ship. Service was friendly and personnel were approachable. My son's cabin steward was great; ours was shy and not out and about very much.

I selected this rating due to the fact that the ride to Bermuda was extremely rocky. I realize that the weather is behind the control of Royal Caribbean and Cruise411, but I almost got very sick. The overall service on the cruise was good, but there was a mixup with breakfast delivery on more than one occasion.

Very dissatisfied with the cabin service, never did we see our steward, not even sure if it was a male or female. Our friends (2 couples) were on the same deck and had great service. Our bed didn't even have a top sheet, we used the coffee pot and our creamers were not replaced. Our bathroom was not cleaned daily. Our friends had robes, animal towels made daily and state that they spoke with their steward 2/3 times a day. Again i'll say we never met our's. This was our Anniversary cruise (41st) which we told our agent twice prior to departing and NCL never Acknowledged this. Everything else about the cruise was great!

I would have to say that the ship is the cleanes one we have been on. That all of the workers one the ship are one of the nice I have meet. For things to do they need a little help not much to do. Also the food in the dining room was ok to start but got better as the trip went on. But the breakfasts in dining room not good at all lunch was ok. The windjammer food was much better. If you have the time go to the special restaurant go they are out of this would. Over all would have to say had a good time.

First, the good news ... This was our first cruise on NCL. We were very pleased with the level of service, the accommodations and the quality of the food. The 'freestyle' dining approach is excellent. We had a choice of two large dining rooms and several smaller restaurants. We liked the Venetian dining room since it had a more elegant atmosphere than the more casual Aqua dining room. The smaller restaurants are very nice for a change of pace since they are quieter and more intimate. We also tried one of the 'specialty' restaurants - the Italian restaurant - which was very nice. The specialty restaurants do require an additional surcharge that varies depending on the restaurant. Now the bad news ... Once we were onboard we learned that due to construction at the wharf in Bermuda, our ship would be anchored in the harbor and we would be transported via tender to the wharf. This is a major inconvenience that should have been disclosed prior to sailing. While I understand that change...

HI I JUST WANT YOU TO BE AWARE OF THE FACT THE NORWEIGAN DAWN WILL NOT BE ABLE TO STAY IN PORT THE DOCK IS GETTING REPAIRED YOU HAVE TO USE TENDERS BACK AND FORTH AND IT IS VERY INCONVENIENT I JUST HAD A TOTAL KNEE SURGERY AND THOUGHT I WAS DOCKING RIGHT AT THE PORT SO EASY WALKOFF IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT ESPECIALLY FOR PEOPLE WHO WERE HANDICAPPED SOME PEOPLE DID NOT EVEN GET OFF THE SHIP BECAUSE OF IT ONE MAN MENTIONED TO ME THAT HE COMPLAINED BECAUSE HE WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THIS AND RECEIVED A BOTTLE OF CHAMPAGNE WE DID NOT COMPLAIN AND GOT NOTHING WE WENT ON THE NORWEIGAN JEWEL LAST OCTOBER DURING SANDY HURRICANE AND DID NOT MAKE IT TO NASSUA AND DID NOT EVEN HAVE AN OFFER OF A FREE DRINK THIS SAME MAN WAS ON THE SAME TRIP AS US AND COMPLAINED THEN AND GOT $200 EACH FOR HIMSELF AND WIFE BECAUSE OF THE INCONVENIENCE THANK YOU
