CRUISE IN PARADISE

Ship: S.S. Antoinette
Sail Date: Mar 31, 2013

Never have I enjoyed such luxury as I had on this trip. ACCOMMODATIONS: My room was the cheapest you can get, bottom of the ship and it was great. Only had a high window but wasn't in my room all day so who cares? May have slept in the most comfortable bed in the world, made each day, turned down with some treat each night. Linens, etc. Top drawer. Fresh water and candy jar refilled each day. Great shower! FOOD : imagine a Roman orgy. It would be small time compared to the great food we had. EVERY morning I had thinly sliced fresh oranges, fresh salmon/ cream cheese/ capers and strawberry yogurt. Never had the space for all the great cheese, pancakes, sausages, bacon and on and on. But that wasn't the best part. The waiters were beyond description. All had a WONDERFUL sense of humor. At lunch and dinner your wine glass was never empty. Open seating and no dress up times. Most men never wore a tie. COMFORT OF SHIP: the Lounge was great - windows on all sides, sofas, ch...

Simply magnificent!

Ship: River Baroness
Sail Date: Oct 12, 2008

We sailed on Uniworld's River Baroness from Paris to Normandy. The ship was well appointed with nice monogrammed linens. The public areas (lounge and dining room) seemed like an intimate club. We had a full house with 121 guests and this seemed like the biggest difference between this cruise and others we have been on. There were no long lines for anything. Big ships always seem like a cattle call when its time to get on or off the ship and during meal times. Not on Uniworld! I'm not sure if we will ever be happy on a big ship again after this wonderful experience! The crew spoke English very well so there was never a time when we had a language problem. The ship was very clean and the staff took pride in their work. Every meal was wonderful. The evening dinners looked as good as they tasted. The presentation of the meals was incredible; just beautiful.

A wonderful time but the ship sucked.

Ship: Litvinov
Sail Date: Jul 01, 2007

We were excited about this cruise for some time. Since we did a Danube River Cruise two years prior and had such a wonderful expierence we were so looking foward to another river cruise. We did pay for an upgrade cabin on this cruise and we were shocked when we opened the door to our room. It was barely 6 feet wide and not enough room for two grown adults. The walls are so thin between rooms that we could hear the guests on both sides of us all night and day. Thank goodness that we had good neighbors and we all decided to make an extreme effort to be quiet, this also means opening and closing cabinets and closets. The bathrooms were not just small but again, walls so thin that if the light was left on during the night you could see through to the adjoining bathroom. The drains in our cabin and adjoining bathroom backed up at least three times during the 14 days aboard. We had to go to the front desk and they would have to call someone to come and clear the drains. This was a single dr...

Uniworld Misreprents this Itinerary

Ship: River Baroness
Sail Date: Jul 01, 2007

Uniworld learned in Jan 2007 that their Paris to Paris itinerary was denied by French authorities. They have replaced two days in LeHavre with 2 days each with 4 hours of bus time from Rouen. They are concealing this from prospective passengers. Caveat emptor.

The Christmas Markets

Ship: River Queen
Sail Date: Dec 01, 2006

We had never been on a river cruise and were really eager to try this experience. We are very happy that we did! Uniworld and the crew of the River Duchess (the River Queen had problems so they switched ships) clearly exceeded our expectations. Every aspect of the cruise was handled professionally and without any hitches.

A Fairy Tale Come True

Ship: River Queen
Sail Date: Nov 01, 2006

My husband and I were celebrating our birthdays. We wanted to do something special.. After combing the internet, papers and travel magazines, we gave up and called our travel agent and she settled the question and recommended a Uniworld cruise. We can never thank her enough. From start to finish we had a most remarkable experience on the River Queen. Everything was as advertized, but even better.

Ports in Uniworld River Cruises

Venice, Italy (201 Reviews)

Venice enchants you from your first glimpse as your ship glides through the Grand Canal. A world power in the middle ages, its affluence lives on in its beautiful old buildings like those surrounding Piazza San Marco. Be sure not to leave without a romantic ride along the canals in a gondola. Learn More »

Istanbul, Turkey (142 Reviews)

Once called Constantinople, the former capital of the Byzantine Empire is the only city in the world to straddle two continents: Europe and Asia. This is the Golden Horn, the door between East and West, and your first vision of its domes and minarets is unforgetable. Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and Sultan treasures in Topkapi Palace await - as does the Grand Bazaar, laden with carpets, beaten brass and spices from afar. Learn More »

St. Petersburg, Russian Federation (120 Reviews)

Peter the Great styled this to be his Venice of the North. Italian architects created baroque facades, the match of any, to line the banks of the Neva River. Long, arched bridges join the city's halves. You'll want to see the spires of the Saints Peter and Paul Fortress, the blue domes of the Ouspensky Cathedral and, of course, some of the million masterworks of art contained in the Hermitage galleries of the Winter Palace. Amsterdam, Netherlands (8 Reviews)

One of Europe's leading cities, Amsterdam's rings of canals and traditional Dutch architecture are unmistakable. Rich in art, history and culture, Amsterdam is home to the Van Gogh museum, Anne Frank's house, and the Rijksmuseum, which houses many works by Rembrandt and Vermeer. Learn More »

Shanghai, China (5 Reviews)

Shanghai's reputation as a center of unrestrained commerce and intrigue has drawn adventures since the time of the Opium Wars. Modern Shanghai will surprise you with its sprawling landscape of towering offices, beautifully contrasted by calm lakes and graceful pagodas dating from the 10th century. Take a trip to Wuxi and visit a silk factory, or serene Jichang Gardens. Learn More »

Rotterdam, Netherlands (4 Reviews)

One of the largest and most modern ports in the world, Rotterdam is the major foreign-trade center of the Netherlands and its second largest city. Among the noteworthy buildings that survived the German air bombardment of 1940 were the stock exchange, the city hall, and the Van Beuningen Museum, with its collection of paintings by Dutch masters.
