A little disappointed

Ship: Enchantment of the Seas
Sail Date: May 13, 2013

Cruises use to be all inclusive, this cruise is not. The food was average, if you wanted a lobster or filet it cost extra. Also, this ship only has one seating time (unless you want to pay extra) so the dining room is crowded and the service is slow. Just disappointed.

Freedom of the Seas 5/12/13

Ship: Freedom of the Seas
Sail Date: May 12, 2013

Cruise was excellent. Ship was beautiful, food was excellent, and service was outstanding. The only really negative thing was a smell outside our stateroom, presumably in the carpet that smelled like sewage. They said it would go away but it did not.

Wonderful Ship & Itinerary

Ship: Allure of the Seas
Sail Date: May 12, 2013

We loved the ship and the shows everything was terrific we stopped into Nassau, St Thomas and St Martin and the weather was perfect …The only problem we had was the food in the general dining room It was just so salty and heavy …it’s impressive to see a menu that is rich with regal descriptions however I would of preferred Golden Corral which is a chain of buffet restaurants and next time will dine at one of the ships' pay restaurants every night or just simply go to the buffet in the windjammer. We did eat at chops on our 2nd night of the cruise, which was an outstanding meal, and the service was simply the best ever. Over all we loved our vacation and can’t wait to book another cruise but this time I might see if Royal Caribbean can help us with a low sodium selection of meals.

Husband's 50th Birthday Cruise

Ship: Freedom of the Seas
Sail Date: May 12, 2013

Great staff and a beautiful ship. Lots of activities on board but it seemed like alot of the time they were all happening at the same time which made for some hard decisions. Excellent meal choices. The Windjammer cafe' tends to get crowded around 9:30 for breakfast. Definitly planning our next cruise. Love Royal Caribbean.

First experience with Royal Caribbean - very disappointing

Ship: Explorer of the Seas
Sail Date: May 11, 2013

Comments regarding our vacation with Royal Caribbean "Explorer of the Seas" (5 day cruise to Bermuda, May 11-16, 2013) We have previously cruised with Princess Cruises and Celebrity Cruises and were very happy with our cruise experience on both of these. We decided to try another cruise line, for the experience and are very, very disappointed with our recent cruise vacation with Royal Caribbean. We may have been naive to think that all cruise lines had the same (or close to the same) standards, but it is now very evident that this is not the case. Here’s the list of mediocre standards encountered on our cruise: Smoking Being non-smokers, we had a particularly difficult time with this. While we understand that smokers are customers too, it seems to us that there are now a lot more non-smokers than smokers and that should be reflected in the amount of areas available to each group. Cigarette (and other smoking materials) smoke smells a long time, permeates into everyth...

had a great time

Ship: Enchantment of the Seas
Sail Date: May 10, 2013

I have nothing bad to say about RCC aside from the fact those rooms are so tiny. Great food, strong drinks and lots of wonderful staff. Lots of activities by the pool made it easy to make friends and even the music they played on board was good and recent. Planning my next cruise already!

First time crusing with Royal Carribean

Ship: Enchantment of the Seas
Sail Date: May 10, 2013

very pleased with the 3-day cruise with Royal Carribean. The crew members were very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and well prepared. The entertainment was exciting and fun to watch. The private island was a wonderful experience. Two-tumbs up for the on-site spa at Cocoay Island! The cleaning crew was prompt and well organized. I would recommend this cruise line to all my family and friends.

Great experience

Ship: Majesty of the Seas
Sail Date: May 10, 2013

Great service, plenty of activities, staff that are there to meet every need, clean and endless amounts of food. Went on a 3 night, only negative part was that it wasn't long enough!

Save your money try another ship

Ship: Majesty of the Seas
Sail Date: May 10, 2013

The food was horrible. Same stuff every night and day. The activities were timed wrong with excursion times so therefore we missed many. Cabin smaller than used to and bedding very very uncomfortable. I sailed Carnival last and must say through all the problems they have better food, better casino and much nicer crew. For the most part the crew was unhelpful and rude ( many complaints i heard at the guest relations desk. My bill was wrong took me over 2 hours to get it fixed. The ports were wonderful but save yourself pick another ship this one we were told is up for sale and they plan on selling by 2015, so therefore nothing goes into this ship. There was a sewage back up on the 8 th deck, overall don't go!!!

Classy Cruise

Ship: Jewel of the Seas
Sail Date: May 06, 2013

Very nice staff. Not feeling crowded on the ship as in past cruises on a different line. Good food. Large stateroom, wider than expected. Nightclubs open a little too late for me. Nice dinner table mates.

Overview of Royal Caribbean

What We Love

  • RCI has established itself as the top cruise line for active cruisers and families -- rock climbing and simulated surfing facilities have become standard. On the new Oasis/Allure of the Seas, there is a zip line, a miniature golf course, and a basketball court.
  • The Royal Promenade: Since the building of “Explorer of the Seas,” all ships have an indoor promenade lined with bars, stores, pizza parlors and feature evening “carnival-style” parties with costumed performers. The ice skating rink is among the most popular activities.
  • Best kids’ program in the cruise industry, DreamWorks characters from Shrek, Kung Fu Panda and Madagascar aboard, and 3D movies. Private lounges for teens.

What To Expect

  • Fellow Passengers: The average age of RCI's passengers is mid-40's, which skews higher on longer voyages. Many families with kids and groups sail together, especially on ships built in the past decade.
  • Atmosphere: The most active ships in the cruise industry. One RCI executive described as “mass with class.” Beautiful public rooms, innovative nightlife and alternative dining.
  • Cabins: Inside and outside staterooms are tiny: 119 to 122 sq .ft.; superior ocean view cabins, 157 sq. ft. and junior suites with balconies are 300 sq. ft. Suites range from 242 to 670 sq. ft. Family suites offer connecting rooms with extra bathrooms.
  • Dining: While some of RCI's food (especially in the Lido restaurant) is uninspired, newer ships have multiple alternative restaurants ranging from Asian to Italian, Brazilian, steakhouses and French. Allure and Oasis offer the most choices.
  • Bars and Lounges: The nautically themed Windjammer Club is a staple on all RCI ships, as is the “Crown Club” on the top deck and Sports Club with live ESPN games.

The Fine Print

Alcohol Policy: Two bottles (750 ml each or smaller) of wine or champagne per cabin are allowed. A $25 corkage fee per bottle is applied when consumed in public.

Dress Code: On a seven-day cruise, expect "cruise casual" nights (slacks, khakis, jeans, and button-downs for men, and casual dresses, skirts and blouses for women) and two formal nights (suit or tux for men and and evening/cocktail dresses for women).

Gratuities: $11.50 per person, per day is charged to shipboard account, and covers waiters, room stewards and other service staff.

Children's Program: Teens have private clubs for hanging out. Smaller children have a myriad of programs, including private pools and water sports and parties at night. From dawn to dusk, there are non-stop programs for younger guests plus a kids' menu at dinner.

Smoking Policy: Ships are non-smoking (including cabins and balconies), but there are a few designated areas on deck where it's allowed.

Onboard Activities: Sail with Madagascar characters, watch 3D DreamWorks movies, try rock climbing or miniature golf. Try your surfing skills on Flow Rider, go ice skating, zip line across the top of the ship, take a scuba course, or get a PADI certification. “Elite Golf” program offers rounds of golf at the top courses in Bermuda and Hawaii. Other features include the first bowling alley at sea, extensive fitness and spa treatments, a full basketball court, and a “Behind the Scenes Tour” of bridge, galley and laundry facilities.
