VERY DISAPPOINTING

Ship: Marco Polo (RETIRED)
Sail Date: Aug 01, 2007

The general feel of the ship was circa 1950 where it may have had its heyday. For 2007 it was small, cramped and stinky. Seriously, it smelled like gasoline. The only pool was a joke. It was the size of a postage stamp and completely undesirable. The food was canned. It tasted worse than "Hometown Buffet" which I wouldn't be caught dead in. My companion said it was worth it for the ports but I disagree. It was pathetic. My last cruise was CELEBRIITY, and this was such a letdown. I don't reccommend it to anyone.

We love our Marco Polo!!!

Ship: Marco Polo (RETIRED)
Sail Date: Mar 01, 2006

It is a classic cruise ship. She has beautiful lines and is easy to negotiate as compared to our experiences on the larger ships. The staff is wonderful, the meals are delightful with every attention to detail. The shore excursions are well planned and there is always something different. We have traveled on 4 other cruise lines and have now spent almost 100 days on Marco Polo - Mediterranean (all), North Africa, Europe (including the British Isles), the Baltic, South America (including the Amazon and southern Caribbean). We have only good things to say!!

As experienced cruisers with more...

Ship: Marco Polo (RETIRED)

As experienced cruisers with more than a dozen trips under our belts over the past 10 years, we found the Marco Polo to be one of the oldest and smallest cruise ships we have been on. After spending more than 3 weeks on the Marco on our European Excursion we are of the opinion that "bigger" is MUCH better; e.g., RCL's Voyager of the Seas, Carnival's Destiny and/or the Grand Princess, etc. It became apparent that the real strength of the Marco Polo were the number of "Ports of Call" she made, as opposed to quality and quantity of ship board activities themselves. Nevertheless, we considered the majority of the tours we had signed up for to be an extremely poor value for the money. At numerous ports of call the "shopping tours" were a joke inasmuch as we were in port on a Sunday or a holiday and the shops were not open during our stay. In summation, the "dancers" were among the very best we have ever seen and our cabin tenders were as good as any we have ever had. Likewise, our quee...
